During a high-level diplomatic visit to Brazil, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya revealed that Brazilian leaders have explicitly condemned Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism and extended full support to India’s counter-terrorism efforts under Operation Sindoor. The remarks came following meetings held by an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

Surya, speaking to ANI, said the delegation met Brazil’s Acting Foreign Minister, Parliament President (Speaker equivalent), and India-Brazil Friendship Group MPs, all of whom reaffirmed Brazil’s role as an “all-weather ally and friend” of India.

“In all three meetings, Brazil clearly expressed support for India. It condemned Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism and backed Operation Sindoor. This is a significant moment for India, as Brazil is an important voice in Latin America and a strategic partner in multilateral platforms like G20, BRICS, and the G4,” Surya stated.

The multi-party delegation includes Sarfaraz Ahmad, Ganti Harish Madhur, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Tejasvi Surya, and former Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, representing India’s democratic plurality and bipartisan stance against terrorism.

BJP MP Shashank Mani emphasized that Operation Sindoor is of global relevance, stating, “The people here have received our message well. We hope Brazil sends a similar multi-party delegation to India soon.”

Former Indian Ambassador and BJP leader Taranjit Singh Sandhu noted the positive South American response throughout the diplomatic tour, including from Panama, Guyana, and Colombia.

“Brazilian officials emphasized the dangers of terrorism as a policy instrument and acknowledged India’s role in confronting it globally,” Sandhu said. “Our meeting with Celso Amorim, the President’s chief advisor and former Foreign and Defence Minister, was especially fruitful.”

BJP MP Bhubaneswar Kalita reiterated the success of the visit, calling the discussions “fruitful and productive.” He confirmed Brazil’s solidarity with India on the Pahalgam terror attack, attributing responsibility to Pakistan and appreciating Brazil’s unequivocal support against terrorism.

The delegation also met Senator Nelsinho Trad, President of the India-Brazil Friendship Front and Chair of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee. Tharoor praised the senator’s strong support for India’s stance, stating: “Excellent & highly productive meeting with Senator Nelsinho Trad… His endorsement strengthens the bonds between our democracies,” Tharoor posted on X.

Tharoor also shared details of a meeting with Ambassador Celso Amorim, lauding the “full and rewarding” discussion at the Presidential Palace in Brasilia.

The visit is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach following the Pahalgam terror attack, aimed at building international consensus on a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. After Brazil, the delegation is set to travel to the United States to continue its global advocacy.
